Worthington, MN – April 13, 2018 – Runnings, Your Home, Farm and Outdoor Store, announced today the purchase of 10.6 acres of land north of Oxford Street from Yellow Company, LLC. The property will be used to build a new 74,000-square-foot store as part of a revitalization effort of the former Northland Mall at 1727 Oxford Street. The new store is expected to open early next year.

“Runnings has always prided itself on connecting with and giving back to the communities in which we operate,” said Dan Herrmann, Runnings COO. “We’re excited about opening a larger store to meet the needs of our customers and bring more jobs to the area.”

The new store will be more than two-and-a-half times the size of the current Runnings store. The additional space will be used to sell an expanded selection of sporting goods, clothing, farm and pet supplies, tools, toys, housewares, and lawn and garden items. In addition, the store will carry the area’s largest selection of firearms. Plans are being made to hire an additional 20 employees for the new store.

Runnings has operated out of their current location at 1438 Humiston Avenue since 2000, after purchasing the building from Fleet of Worthington. The company plans to sell the existing 28,000-square-foot building once the move to the new location is completed.
