Runnings Continues to Expand in 2024
New stores in SD and IL will expand Minnesota-Based Retailer’s Footprint to 82 Locations
MARSHALL, MINNESOTA – February 20, 2024 – Runnings announces it will open two new stores in the fall of 2024, one in Danville, Illinois and one in Miller, South Dakota. This expansion continues the company’s tradition of giving life to old buildings and bringing a well-rounded retail offering to the communities it serves.
Runnings is a home, farm and outdoor store with an extensive selection of pet supplies, outdoor sporting goods, apparel, lawn & garden, and farm items.
The announcement comes on the heels of Runnings’ acquisition of RP Home & Harvest in 2023. Those 22 stores are in the process of converting to Runnings storefronts and will celebrate grand openings in March 2024. Runnings now operates in twelve states reaching from Montana, across the upper Midwest, to New York and New Hampshire.
The Danville building, located at 3363 N Vermillion Street, was a part of the Home & Harvest acquisition, and was used as a distribution center by the previous owners.
“We think the city of Danville is a good match for us and we’re proud to restore this building to a retail location,” said Runnings President Brian Odegaard. “We see great promise here and we’re looking forward to introducing the Danville community to Runnings.”
The Miller store will be in the former Alco building, located at 218 East 15th Street, which has been vacant since the store closed in 2015. “Runnings built our business by taking advantage of available opportunities,” said Odegaard. “We think Miller is a great fit and believe we can make a positive impact for the community.”
Miller is expected to employ about 20 employees, and Danville around 50. The company plans a fall grand opening for both locations.
